Akfix 915N Weatherseal Neutral Silicone 600ml — Authorized Akfix Distributor, Kenya

Akfix 915N is a one-component, neutral-cure, low-modulus weatherseal silicone formulated specifically for expansion joints, perimeter joints, curtain walling, window and door perimeter sealing, and other exterior weather-exposed joints where a flexible, UV-resistant, non-corrosive silicone is required. Available now at Startcore Ventures, your authorized Akfix sealants and adhesives distributor on Ngara Road, Nairobi — KES 1,000 inclusive of VAT for the 600ml sausage foil pack, in stock, with full manufacturer traceability and Kenya-wide delivery. 915N is the workhorse exterior weatherseal for curtain-wall installers, window fitters, façade contractors, civil engineers, and roofing contractors across Kenya.

Akfix 915N Price in Kenya and Pack Sizes

Akfix 915N price in Kenya: KES 1,000 inclusive of VAT for the 600ml sausage foil pack. Firm quote, no hidden costs, no "call for price" games.

Pack configuration:

  • 600ml sausage foil pack, fits a standard sausage gun or pneumatic sausage gun
  • 20 sausage foil packs per outer carton
  • 310ml cartridge version available on special order — call for pricing

Product identification:

  • Manufacturer: Akkim Yapı Kimyasalları (Akfix is a Turkish brand distributed globally)
  • Product line: Akfix Specialist Silicone Sealants
  • Grade: 915N (neutral-cure, low-modulus weatherseal silicone)
  • Chemistry: Neutral-cure silicone (oxime-cure family — confirm on TDS for specific lot)
  • Cure system: Moisture cure (cures from the surface inward by reaction with atmospheric moisture)

Akfix 915N Kenya pricing at Startcore is competitive against parallel imports, and every sausage pack is sourced direct from Akfix's authorized East African distribution channel. If a quote comes in far below ours, the product is almost certainly expired stock being resold as fresh, parallel-imported grey-market product without traceability, or refilled foil packs from unbranded silicone. Akfix 915N has a defined shelf life and a batch-traceable certificate — we provide both on request.

Akfix 915N Specifications

Akfix 915N technical data — typical values, manufacturer-rated, from the 915N Technical Data Sheet (TDS):

  • Chemistry: Neutral-cure silicone (low-modulus, weatherseal grade)
  • Colour: Translucent (clear), white, grey, black (standard stocked colours — confirm at order)
  • Density: Approximately 1.00 – 1.05 g/cm³ at 25°C
  • Consistency: Smooth, thixotropic paste (non-sag on vertical and overhead joints)
  • Application temperature: +5°C to +40°C (surface and ambient)
  • Service temperature: -40°C to +150°C (cured)
  • Skin formation time: 10 – 20 minutes (at 23°C, 50% RH)

Akfix 915N specifications make it the right weatherseal silicone for high-movement exterior joints exposed to UV, rain, and thermal cycling. For purely interior applications, a cheaper silicone or acrylic sealant is sufficient. For structural glazing, a structural-grade silicone (specifically rated for structural glazing) is required — call 0705544817 to discuss.

What the Akfix 915N Is Built For

The Akfix 915N is the workhorse neutral-cure weatherseal silicone. Use it for:

Curtain walling and façade:

  • Perimeter sealing of curtain-wall panels (aluminium, glass, stone) to the building structure.
  • Sealing between curtain-wall panels (vertical and horizontal expansion joints).
  • Sealing between stone or pre-cast concrete façade panels.
  • Weathersealing of unitised façade systems.

Window and door installation:

  • Perimeter sealing of window frames (aluminium, uPVC, timber) to the structural opening — interior and exterior.
  • Perimeter sealing of door frames to the structural opening.
  • Sealing between window glazing beads and the frame.
  • Sealing of roof windows and skylights.

Expansion and control joints:

  • Sealing expansion joints in concrete slabs and walls (vertical and horizontal).
  • Sealing control joints in brick and blockwork.
  • Sealing joints in pre-cast concrete elements.
  • Sealing joints in swimming pool surrounds (where a neutral-cure, water-resistant silicone is required).

Roofing and cladding:

  • Sealing joints in metal roofing and cladding (trim, ridge, valley, flashing).
  • Sealing joints in fibre-cement and asbestos-cement roofing and cladding.
  • Sealing around roof penetrations (vents, flues, solar mounts).
  • Sealing gutter and downpipe joints.

Civil engineering and infrastructure:

  • Sealing joints in bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Sealing joints in water-retaining structures (where the silicone is rated for water-retaining service — confirm on TDS for specific application).
  • Sealing joints in tunnel linings and underground structures.

NOT recommended for:

  • Structural glazing (use Akfix structural silicone specifically rated for structural glazing — call to discuss).
  • Aquariums and potable water systems (use a specific aquarium-safe or NSF/ANSI 61 potable-water silicone).
  • Food-contact applications (use a specific NSF H1 food-grade silicone).
  • Applications where paintability is required (silicones are not paintable — use Akfix AS606 acrylic).
  • Direct immersion in fuel, oil, or aggressive solvents (use a fuel-resistant or chemical-resistant grade — call to discuss).
  • Bitumen, asphalt, or polyethylene substrates without a primer (silicone does not adhere to these without specific priming — call to discuss).

Genuine Akfix 915N vs Counterfeit: What to Check

Counterfeit and expired weatherseal silicones are common in the Kenyan construction supply market. A sausage pack of fake or generic silicone labelled as weatherseal will fail under UV exposure, will crack under movement, and will allow water ingress within months. Before you buy Akfix 915N in Kenya, verify the following:

  1. Akfix batch number and date code printed on every sausage pack. The format is a multi-character batch code with manufacture date. No batch code or no expiry = reject the pack.
  2. Certificate of Analysis (CoA) available on request for the specific batch — confirms density, viscosity, and Shore A hardness.
  3. Sausage pack and label quality — genuine Akfix sausage foil packs are aluminium-foil with a clean, crisp Akfix label including the Akkim branding, "Neutral Cure" wording, hazard pictograms, and product code. Counterfeits have fuzzy, off-colour, or mis-spelled labels, and the foil pack is often a generic no-name sausage with an Akfix label stuck on.
  4. Colour and consistency — genuine 915N is smooth, consistent colour (clear, white, grey, or black), and thixotropic. Expired product is lumpy, separated, or has a hard skin in the pack. Counterfeits may be cloudy, yellowed, or completely different chemistry.
  5. Smell — genuine neutral-cure silicone has a mild, almost neutral smell during application. Acetic-cure silicone has a strong vinegar smell (acetic acid). If your "weatherseal" smells like vinegar, it is acetic-cure and not neutral — return it.
  6. Cure test — apply a bead to a piece of scrap glass, allow 24 hours, then try to flex the bead. Genuine 915N will cure to a flexible, clear or coloured rubber with strong adhesion to glass and metal. Counterfeit or expired product may remain soft, crumbly, or peel cleanly off the substrate.
  7. Movement test — apply a bead between two pieces of scrap timber, allow 7 days to fully cure, then flex the joint. Genuine 915N will accommodate ±25% movement without cracking or delaminating. Counterfeit product will crack or delaminate.
  8. Distributor supply — only an authorized Akfix distributor like Startcore can issue a tax invoice tied to the manufacturer batch records. If your seller cannot produce a CoA or trace the batch, walk away.

Startcore supplies every sausage pack of original Akfix 915N Nairobi with a tax invoice, the manufacturer's batch code, and a CoA on request. We rotate stock by FIFO (first in, first out) to ensure the longest remaining shelf life ships first.

Akfix 915N — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Akfix 915N price in Kenya? KES 1,000 inclusive of VAT for the 600ml sausage foil pack at Startcore Ventures, Nairobi. Trade pricing available for high-volume users and monthly contracts. Carton (20-pack) pricing on application. 310ml cartridge version available on special order. Call 0705544817 for a quote.

Is the Akfix 915N available in Nairobi right now? Yes. The 600ml sausage pack is in stock at our Ngara Road store. You can collect same-day, or we can arrange Kenya-wide delivery. For bulk orders (carton quantities or non-standard colours), call ahead on 0705544817 so we can confirm quantity and reserve stock.

What colours does Akfix 915N come in? Standard stocked colours are translucent (clear), white, grey, and black. Other colours are available on special order — call 0705544817 to confirm availability and lead time.

Can I use Akfix 915N on glass and aluminium? Yes — 915N is specifically formulated for glass, anodised aluminium, coated metals, concrete, masonry, and most plastics. It is the right weatherseal for window perimeter sealing, curtain-wall panel sealing, and metal roofing and cladding. For structural glazing (where the silicone carries the load of the glass panel), a structural-grade silicone is required — call to discuss.

Can I use Akfix 915N on concrete expansion joints? Yes — 915N is suitable for sealing expansion joints in concrete slabs and walls, control joints in brick and blockwork, and joints in pre-cast concrete elements. For high-movement joints, use a closed-cell backer rod to control the joint depth and provide a flexible sealant reservoir. Standard joint design is 2:1 width-to-depth ratio (e.g. 20mm wide x 10mm deep sealant, with backer rod behind).

Can Akfix 915N be painted? No. Neutral-cure silicone is not paintable — paint will not adhere to cured silicone and will fish-eye or peel. If a paintable finish is required over the sealed joint, use a paintable acrylic sealant (Akfix AS606) on the perimeter after the 915N has cured, or use the 915N behind a paintable cover strip or trim.

What is the difference between Akfix 915N and Akfix 100E? 915N is a neutral-cure, low-modulus weatherseal silicone — non-corrosive, high-movement capability (±25%), UV-resistant, for exterior weather-exposed joints, curtain walls, and window perimeters. 100E is an acetic-cure, general-purpose construction silicone — strong initial tack, faster cure, but releases acetic acid during cure which will attack mirror backings, marble, natural stone, and some metals. For exterior weathersealing, curtain walls, and window perimeters, use 915N. For general construction sealing (bathroom fittings, kitchen sinks, glazing) where the substrate tolerates acetic cure, 100E is fine and slightly cheaper.

What is the difference between Akfix 915N and Akfix 900N? 915N is a weatherseal silicone — low-modulus, high-movement (±25%), UV-resistant, for exterior expansion joints and perimeter sealing. 900N is a mirror adhesive silicone — medium-modulus, lower movement (±10%), specifically formulated to be non-corrosive to mirror backings and sensitive metals, with strong adhesive bond for mirror mounting. For exterior weather-exposed joints, use 915N. For mirror mounting and sensitive-substrate bonding, use 900N.

What is the shelf life of Akfix 915N? 12 months from the date of manufacture in unopened original container, stored at +5°C to +35°C. The batch code and date are printed on every sausage pack. We rotate stock by FIFO and ship the longest remaining shelf life first. Once a sausage pack is opened and partially used, use within 24 hours or reseal the nozzle.

Do you deliver Akfix 915N outside Nairobi? Yes. We deliver Kenya-wide. Same-day in Nairobi, next-day to Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru, and all major towns. Delivery cost depends on location and order size. Cash on delivery available for verified trade accounts. Call 0705544817 for a delivery quote.
